INTRODUCTION
In today's rapidly evolving educational landscape, harnessing the power of multimedia tools is imperative for fostering engaging and effective learning experiences. This course is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills to seamlessly integrate multimedia tools into their teaching practices, empowering them to create interactive and enriching lessons. Throughout the program, participants will explore a diverse range of multimedia resources, including audio, video, graphics, and interactive platforms. By the end of the course, educators will be well-equipped to grab the potential of multimedia tools, transforming their classrooms into dynamic hubs of 21st-century.
OBJECTIVES
The course will help participants to:
• Use a framework for lesson planning that balances the use of the screen in class with non-screen elements of a lesson
• Expand their skill set in the use of presentation software
• Create digital material to deliver language input (grammar and vocabulary)
• Create digital material to aid in language skills development (speaking)
• Develop and assess digital projects with their students
• Use music, song and video in the development of classroom materials
CONTENT
Day 1
- 1 Teaching with Screens: a methodology for modern language lesson planning; Slideshow software for teachers (basic use, tips and tricks for creating and presenting slideshows with powerpoint, google slides or other)
- 2 Make your grammar and vocabulary lessons more memorable (activity ideas using audio-visual input that go beyond Kahoot)
Day 2
- 3 Advanced slideshow tips and tricks (more complex use of the tools including templates, embedding audio and video)
- 4 Using multimedia in different ways to enhance speaking activities
Day 3
- 5 Beyond the poster: using new technologies with audio/video for student-based projects
- 6 Modern ideas for using music in the classroom
METHODOLOGY
For the duration of the course we will be adopting a communicative and task-based methodology.

SPEAKER BIODATA
Lindsay Clandfield is an award-winning writer, teacher, teacher trainer and international speaker in the field of English language teaching. He has written more than fifteen coursebooks and is the main author of the new young adult course Studio (Helbling Languages). His other courses include Global and Straightforward (Macmillan). Lindsay was the series editor of the Delta Teacher Development book series and has co-written various methodology books for teachers, notably Dealing with Difficulties and Teaching Online (Delta Publishing). His most recent methodology books were Interaction Online (CUP) and Live Online Teaching (Pavilion) which he co-wrote with Jill Hadfield. Lindsay is also the creative force behind various web projects including the blog Six Things, the e-publishing collective The Round and the sci-fi/adventure materials website Extreme Language Teaching and the podcast The TEFL Commute.
