INTRODUCTION

English for Pre-Primary combines linguistic support, revision, and reactivation with a hands-on presentation of the methodology, lexis, activities and resources for pre-primary teachers.
These aspects will be covered over nine three-hour sessions.

OBJECTIVES

The course programme is based on a series of workshops where we will build on the participants’ knowledge and experience in order to broaden and activate teaching techniques, and work on modifying and improving strategies for the pre-Primary classroom.

CONTENT & SCHEDULE

The British Council’s Teacher Training courses are highly practical, and our trainers are experienced in encouraging participants to use and improve their knowledge of English whilst discovering and interacting with different methodologies and sharing and reflecting on their own classroom experiences.

METHODOLOGY

Each session will focus on a different theme related to pre-Primary teaching, where participants will deepen their knowledge and in addition, have a forum to share good practice. Where further input or more practical activities are called for, the programme may be modified depending on the participants’ interest.
We encourage self-evaluation and peer and tutor-led evaluation, thereby giving a good model of formative assessment where students are involved in their own continued, positive development.
During the micro-teaching slots, teachers will have an opportunity to experiment with proposed tasks before their classmates and receive constructive, personalised feedback from both the tutor and their peers. The Focus Group enables structured, guided reflection on how best to adapt to the needs of each participant.

TUTOR

Rebecca Place has over 25 years’ experience teaching on- and off-line and is currently running the British Council Spain’s national teacher training project. She is a tutor and observer on NILE, TYLEC, DELTA and Trinity Diploma courses and Media Officer for TESOL-SPAIN in her spare time. She has taught English to students aged 2 to 72, written methodology books and storybooks and travelled near and far as a convention speaker, examiner, and storyteller.

1. Profesorado en activo de inglés y Disciplinas No Lingüísticas en inglés en Enseñanza Primaria en centros educativos de la Comunidad Autónoma de Cantabria*.

Orden de inscripción según la prelación de destinatarios.

CERTIFICACIÓN

Se expedirá la certificación correspondiente a aquellos docentes que asistan, como mínimo, al 85% de las sesiones, de acuerdo con la normativa vigente (Orden EDU/41/2009)
